Tolman was also a role on The Mindy Show playing Abby Berman a romance writer. The actress was a supporter in Michael Dougherty's horror comedy film Krampus. After her breakthrough role in Fargo, Tolman declined several supporting parts as mothers, wives and best friends in search of an unusual character. Tolman played the role of a woman in ABC's Downward Dog in 2017, based on Animal Media Group's web series. The show was cancelled after one season. Tolman played in ABC's Emergence drama that debuted on 24 September 2019 but was pulled by ABC after one year in May of 2020. even though Tolman posting on Twitter that the show's ratings were "pretty acceptable". She was also a guest star on NBC's Good Girls. She played Alma Filcott during the second year of Why Women Kill.
